Marlin and Doris Thomas Memory Center
Mind, Body, and Spirit
The Marlin and Doris Thomas Memory Center is a beautiful neighborhood of 142 residences that tends to the mind, body, and spirit of Residents living with dementia and their carepartners. The neighborhood includes sprawling garden paths, barbecue patios, and harmonious spaces that promote intergenerational quality time. Emphasizing clarity, consistency, and normalcy, the spaces feel welcoming and comfortable.
A New Model for Care
Willow Valley Communities is leading the nation toward a new way to view, experience, and embrace dementia. Through innovative and intentional design, the 7 acre campus emphasizes intergenerational interaction and moments of joy. Wayfinding clues promote autonomy and support Residents as they navigate the town and engage as they please. Naturally lit spaces offer comfort and help maintain circadian rhythms.
A Compassionate Approach
An expert team of compassionate carepartners works alongside Residents to shop for groceries, prepare meals, dine at the restaurant, socialize, and more. Workshops, learning resources, peer groups, and counseling services are available for family and friends who desire to deepen their empathy and understanding.
Partners in the Community
To reshape how dementia is viewed, experienced, and embraced, the Memory Center will also provide resources and education to the greater community. An Assessment Center focused on early identification of neurodegeneration and research breakthroughs, cognitive fitness stations geared toward meditation and neuroplasticity, a brain-healthy café, a dance and fitness studio, and respite opportunities will all be open for public benefit.
