Masks are needed – even outdoors – for several reasons: 1) the wearing of masks any time a person leaves his/her home is consistent with PA Governor Tom Wolf’s April 3, 2020 recommendation; and 2) we all want to be doing everything we can to prevent and contain COVID-19 at Willow Valley Communities.

If your mother is not feeling well, she would call Resident Nursing. Nursing will assess and if necessary, recommend that she call her physician. If a resident is diagnosed with COVID, he/she would isolate for 14 days if he or she is well enough to stay in the apartment. If he/she is not well enough to remain in the apartment, he/she would be transferred to our Supportive Living COVID positive unit. In their home, he/she is monitored by phone calls unless it is an emergency. There is no remote monitoring. Willow Valley Communities can do vitals face to face in the apartment or at the Nursing Office. If COVID positive, we would go to apartment.
Yes. All Residents who leave our campuses by any method (their own vehicle, shuttle bus, on foot, etc.) must be screened upon their return to the campus.
Without knowing the Resident’s clinical specifics and clinical history (as only her own physician can), it is difficult to say whether the Resident should be tested for the Coronavirus. It is always prudent to call one’s own physician and discuss symptoms with him/her when you have had a fever and cough. The Centers for Disease Control has published guidelines for physicians for evaluating a patient and deciding whether to test him/her for the Coronavirus. We would strongly suggest that your friend be in touch with her physician.
Residents in Independent Living are permitted to leave the Willow Valley Communities campus, but are strongly encouraged to limit outings to truly necessary locations (such as grocery stores, pharmacies and medical appointments). Whether on or off campus, social distancing (remaining 6 feet apart) is a must.
100% of Willow Valley Communities Team Members are wearing masks while working.
Masks are being provided for all Residents.

SouthPointe (Click + to expand)
(Note: This answers several questions of the same nature) The construction company building Willow Valley Communities’ newest expansion, SouthPointe at Lakes, followed PA Governor Wolf’s order and ceased construction as directed by that mandate. Subsequently, an exemption was granted, which has allowed construction at SouthPointe to continue. Some vendor/suppliers are still affected by the order. The overall impact to SouthPointe timing was minimal. The first phase of SouthPointe Residents began moving into our community in early August.
