Follow our journey toward better health at Willow Valley Communities as we participate in the Walk With Ease CHALLENGE℠.
The Walk With Ease CHALLENGE is a 6-week lifestyle improvement program to help you become more physically active by using a pedometer to track the number of steps you take each day. Walk With Ease was written specifically for people with arthritis, but can be practical and useful for anyone. Regular physical activity has significant health benefits, including lowering the risk of developing or dying from cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes, and improving the health of muscles, bones and joints. Each step you take will instantly record on the pedometer, which will help motivate you to work on increasing your everyday activity and remind you of the health improvements you are making.
Manor and Lakes Campus Residents and Team members will compete to achieve the most steps in the 6 week challenge. While walking is the central activity of this program, it is not the only part. The program also includes three other very important components that will help to make this a safe and successful walking experience for participants. These three components are health education information, stretching and strengthening exercises, and motivational tips and tools. We are all interested in increasing our physical activity, becoming more fit, managing our weight, feeling more energetic, or making lifestyle changes. Any increase in steps is considered a success. So follow along as we post our progress!
