The arrival of live Christmas trees is a joyful time throughout Willow Valley Communities. Our maintenance teams are kept extremely busy in early December as most every building in our communities features at least one live tree.
This tree, located in the Manor Community lobby, is 17 feet high, 12 feet wide, and weighs somewhere between 700-800 pounds! It took 12 men to carry the tree in and stand it up.
After the trees are installed, ‘Deck the Halls’ parties follow. At our Manor Community, several live trees were placed in the lobby and dining rooms. Resident volunteers lead by our Resident Life Coordinator had a grand time decorating them. The Manor culinary team served delicious holiday cookies and hot chocolate. Holiday music was provided by residents with piano playing talents.
Additionally, this is the time of year when we welcome the approaching Festival of Lights. Hanukkah begins at sundown on December 24th and menorahs are placed in several of our community lobbies. The Hanukkah Menorah stands for light, wisdom, and divine inspiration. The Menorah includes 8 candles, plus the shammes, a “servant candle” that is used to light the others.
Happy Holidays from Willow Valley Communities!
